Summer Update

I sat down to write this a month ago but just could not do it. I am not sure why, I must apologize for taking so long to get this out. Things a bit harder for us emotionally right now and to have to put our thoughts into words was a lot harder than I thought. We have had some ups and downs over the last few months and spent some time in what felt like the desert. Things are going well as I write this today. There is definitely some exciting stuff going on that we will need your help with! Rayo de Esperanza is expanding!!! We have prayed about this for years and God is showing us that now is the time. Our new house parents are preparing to come down and their new house is coming along very well. We do still have a lot of work to do but we see so much progress now. All the cement work inside and around the outside is done. We will be starting stucco work very soon. After stucco is windows, doors, kitchen, bathrooms and ceilings. We do have a long way to go but it is exciting to see progress! Along with this growth we are looking into hiring a part time accountant and probably a social worker.

One of our valleys happened when we took in a 16 year old a few weeks back. Shortly after arriving he took money from Pedro and Maria's phone and ran away during church on a Sunday. Not sure why other than he just wanted to be back on the streets with no rules. He said the whole time he was here that he really liked it here. It's hard to begin getting to know a child that you know needs your help and spiritual guidance and they just disappear. It keeps in mind how many times we as Christians go to God and then try to do everything on our own! Please pray for his safety and for him to listen to God's guidance.

We try to no to dwell on finances as God has always provided (thru each and every one of you and your gifts). However, we continue to try and keep up but with the drop in the dollar here it is almost impossible with our current budget. There are continual maintenance issues, taxes, insurance, school and older kids in trade schools plus the just everyday living expenses like food and utilities. We really need your help. Please pray about how you can help. I have made up a list of the things weighing on our minds and hearts right now.

Ways you may be able to help

  1. Our construction fund needs 10,000 dollars to get us to the point of putting in the kitchen and bathrooms. This would cover window, doors, septic, water feed to house, stucco and extra workers for a month.

  2. A new accountant will cost us 100 per month.

  3. Social worker is unknown at this time.

  4. Car insurance unknown

  5. We have no maintenance fund which is badly needed

We have faith that God will provide as He has from the beginning of this journey, the only reason I put this out like this is because His people need to know of the need so maybe you would pray about how you may be able to help. We are so blessed by what He has doing here that we want more of His people to be able to join and become a part of this ministry and its blessings.

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. James 1:27
